From June 28, 2025, certain companies will be required by the Barrier-Free Strengthening Act (BFSG) to make their digital offerings accessible. Germany is thereby implementing the European Accessibility Act (EAA) into national law. The requirements are based on the internationally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
What is already standard for public institutions will now become a binding regulation for parts of the private sector through the BFSG: the removal of digital barriers must be advanced. Affected companies must therefore adapt their websites and digital services accordingly and make them accessible by the specified deadline.
