A luminaire program is, in the end, also a data problem: photometric data from IES and LDT files, light distribution curves, thousands of variants in light color, luminous flux, housing color, mounting type, control. For this to work for architects, lighting designers, and specialist retailers, you need systems that truly understand the variants and their dependencies. We build the digital tools that make this manageable – configurators, product data systems, websites.

A luminaire manufacturer rarely has a website problem. They have a data problem that becomes visible on the website. That’s why we usually start at the back end: with the product data, the variants, and the rules between them. From there, we build what planners actually work with: configurators that only allow what genuinely exists. Technical data that’s consistent everywhere. Downloads in the right format.
One question remains open, no matter how clean the data is: what does the light actually look like in the end? That’s why we built the Virtual Light Framework.

The Virtual Light Framework: web-based solutions for lighting
Our Virtual Light Framework enables the dynamic visualization of light directly on the website. It transforms existing planning data into an interactive, browser-based visualization in real time within the web browser, without the need for additional renderings or external planning tools. This turns static data into a clear and interactive basis for decision-making.

One of our managing partners actually wanted to become a lamp designer. Instead, he ended up founding a web agency.
A website project for ERCO turned into more than two decades of collaboration. Through KOBER LICHTPLANER, we were also able to gain a deeper understanding of the planning side of the business. With ewo, a second manufacturer joined us. This time, with luminaires mounted mostly outdoors.
In the end, our detour into the web wasn’t a detour at all. Because even though lighting hasn’t remained our sole focus over the years, it’s the one we know best. And today, of course, we also know that they’re properly called “luminaires.”

About the Architects’ Darling Award, the "Oscar of the Construction Industry"
The Architects’ Darling Award has been presented by Heinze Marktforschung since 2011 and is considered one of the most important accolades in the construction industry, because it’s the people who work with the products every day who cast their verdict. It’s based on Germany’s largest manufacturer survey: more than 2,200 architects and specialist planners rate around 200 brands. What’s assessed is what actually matters in day-to-day planning: consulting, experience, trust, sustainability, and product information.
